World Cup Hangover
July 12th
Many England fans were left upset by the recent World Cup Tournament; not just after the Portugal game, but when they discovered that they weren’t covered to drive in other countries on their car insurance.
It is estimated that around 8 million Brits take their cars abroad in a normal year, a figure that is increasing every year due to the newfound ease of travel around the European Union.
Research shows that only a third of motorists actually check their insurance documents before embarking on a foreign road trip. Insurance company’s products can vary greatly in terms of what cover is given. It is required that all insurers offer the minimal cover legally required by the destination country, which can often fail to include theft or damage to your car.
Insurers are asking that policy holders check their documents fully before arranging a journey as some companies require a notice period before upgrading their level of cover.
