Motor Insurance Groups
Cars are rated by insurance companies on a scale of 1 to 20 – 20 being the highest. This relates to the engine size, its age, and the car’s desirability to thieves. On this rating, a young person on a group 20 car may be an extremely high premium, possibly even a decline, whereas a young person on a group 3 car would be much more favorable.
One example of a group one car would be a 2000 Vauxhall Corsa Club (973cc), and an example of a group 20 being a 1999 Porsche Boxster (2470cc).
New rating systems are currently being implemented using a scale of 1 to 50.
It is always important to consider a cars grouping when buying a vehicle. Never try and guess what the insurance could be.
We will apply your quote to around 40 insurers on our panel to find the best quote. The great thing about having the selection of insurers is that we have the ability to be able to find a quote for almost any vehicle.
